Office Desks – Collaborative Space

I designed these for a local nonprofit who was willing to bend toward nontraditional. They are tenants of a historical mansion which, I guess you could call “ritzy”. Stained oak trim, thick textured wallpaper, 10′ ceiling, and the requirement that all fixtures must be freestanding furniture. They are also on a tight budget, as a nonprofit.

We wanted to create an impact on the space without clashing with the existing color palette, fill up the room to scale with its large proportions, compliment and alleviate the overbearing formality of the space, and create flexible surfaces which could be used for impromptu meetings.

The curves give defined working spaces for individuals to splay out paperwork. The additional table gives a place for guests, storage for supplies, and creates a pleasant asymetrical distraction from the large flat-screen television. Curved 3″ honeycomb bases are covered with grass cloth wallpaper.
